Recent Updates
April 23rd, 2010:
I resurrected my posts from my deleted Destructoid blog. They're dated but still worth reading. Check them out here.
March 21st, 2010:
I revised the Fighters Megamix rip. It's much more impressive now.
February 19th, 2010:
I've once again provided streamable links for all the videos that have been deleted from YouTube. This time I'm using MegaVideo's service. The play button is a little deceptive if you aren't using AdBlock with Firefox, but basically just click the Red or Green button in the middle of the window to play the video.
I feel like the game music rips are becoming a bit stale. I'm going to be updating them with proper tags and other much needed upgrades. I'm also going to be adding some new ones, while removing some others which have become obsolete in comparison to other people's efforts since the release. By "other people", I mean the various other ripper groups and individuals whom are best left unmentioned, I suppose.
Edit: Ok, all the rips have been revised. They're all properly tagged, hosted at MegaUpload. My more impressive ones got some cover art edits to indicate their completeness. I removed the StarCraft and Diablo 2 sets because Blizzard is selling superior OSTs on iTunes now. However, I added a new set; Soul Blade. It's one of my oldest rips, but I've severely upgraded it. Read here to find out how, and download.
October 3rd, 2009:
And so I give to you, my 2nd site, Auricular Discovery. It's pretty much just a place where I can share small bits of game music with little effort. It's a continuation of a series of articles I did for Racketboy a while back, except now I'll have full control over it. I worked pretty hard the last 6 days and I'm happy with how things turned out. Wordpress is a hell of a platform.
September 28th, 2009:
I've started working on somewhat of a spin-off site. Might even be able to get it launched this weekend. It's nothing special or original, but it'll be mine, and will serve as a long term project I can put a few minutes into every week.
July 9th, 2009:
I tweaked the forum so that it more closely resembles the rest of the site. It has new border, padding, margin, and width settings. It's much more comfortable on widescreens now.
May 27th, 2009:
And now he's done a comic on me. Wow. I don't know what to say.
May 25th, 2009:
Street Fighter 3 and Capcom vs SNK 2 have both been optimized with better file orders now, as well as a couple minor tweaks. By the end of the day, I should have all 5 games reuploaded in superior 7zip compression. All 5 games should now also display my site's logo on the bootup screen, so people can stop taking credit for my projects (at least for the newest versions.) If only I did this from the get-go.
Now I'm in the planning stages for updating Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo with OCRemix's HD Remix score. I'm also looking into replacing the music in King of Fighters 99 Evolution.
May 21st, 2009:
I just got mentioned in a news post over at SpaceBooger, a site that features a web comic series, and various geek write-ups. He's really enjoyed the Dreamcast music replacement projects, it seems.
May 19th, 2009:
Well I jumped through quite a few flaming hoops but I did manage to update the two Dreamcast projects. Let it be known that if you plan to selfboot Dreamcast games, don't use a S-ATA burner (Unless your BIOS can flip it into IDE mode), a 64 bit OS, or anything newer than Windows XP. All 3 of these factors will halt your progress.
So anyway, Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Tony Hawk 2 have been updated. Grab the new releases from the Other Projects section and spread them around.
May 15th, 2009:
Not a lot going on. Eric made another new video. Actually, it's a remake of a video I still host here. Again, I won't be hosting his new stuff here, as his his site is now taking care of that. You can see his previous video on YouTube here as well.
Also, I came across a collection of Dreamcast rips from TuxtheWise, known as the Dream Resurrection project. What he's got here are rips that are better optimized for the system than the originals from 2000-2001. I'll be using his rips of Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Tony Hawk 2 to update my remix projects of those two games, so they'll have the superior load times as well.
Edit: Nevermind. This won't be possible. Apparently the selfboot methods only work with WinXP or older, and I run Windows 7 now. I guess I won't be updating or making any new Dreamcast projects anymore.
Marth 27th, 2009:
Eric will be reopening Otaku Vengeance sometime soon. He's completed his first music video in years, as well.
December 9th, 2008:
I know I'm like 6 years late to the party, but I've started to use my Last.fm account. I'm really not one for all the internet social networks, but Last.fm seems like it'll serve to help me freshen up my very stale non-film/game soundtrack folder. It'll also motivate me to finish tagging the 2nd half of my entire collection, something I've been working on slowly for months.
November 23rd, 2008:
I purchased a Left 4 Dead server for the time being. IP is 66.225.198.154:27015. In the game, enable your console and type "connect 66.225.198.154:27015" without the quotes to join. Or you can join the Steam Community group Left 4 Dead 411, and it will list the server from the main menu of the game under "Play With Steam Groups". The server is called Mozzery of Mozgus. That's the best I could come up with.
September 27th, 2008:
All 5 Dreamcast projects are now hosted at megaupload. The anti-leech script I was using was randomly cutting off users' downloads, and I got tired of hearing about it.
July 25th, 2008:
New Dreamcast Music Replacement is out. Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike - Accurate Mix. The link says it all.
July 13th, 2008:
Ok, all four Dreamcast projects are locally hosted now. Check their respective Information pages for individual updates. Feel free to spread the word on these, in an attempt to sway people from the old versions that are still circulating on torrent networks, and the like.
July 10th, 2008:
Finally made a preview video for the Tony Hawk mix. I'm thinking about updating all 4 mixes so that they will work in emulators, since I've recieved hundreds of complaints over the last 2-3 years that they do not. That was my intention, but since Dreamcasts are starting to get harder to find, I'll oblige. I'll also host the projects locally. No more torrents or ad-sponsered free hosts.
May 23rd, 2008:
New video editing project completed, sorta. Not a lot of effort on this one, but it's something different for once. Here ya go.
April 22nd, 2008:
Demonoid returned, and with it, a few of my torrents for the old projects. I've relinked some, and uploaded others to a free host, so for the time being, everything on the site should be downloadable again.
February 28th, 2008:
I updated the anti-leech script for the site to the newest version. It should support resumable downloads now. If there are any issues, please leave post about it on the forum. You can even be annonymous.
November 22nd, 2007:
I started a Destructoid blog over here. No real goals with this. Just messing around.
November 12th, 2007:
In a tragic turn of events, Demonoid has been shut down. Not only was it one of my favorite torrent databases, but it also served as the tracker for my Dreamcast remix projects, which were still alive and going strong. The tracker itself is still running, but probably not for long. The Tony Hawk 2 project has a new host now, and when the tracker dies, I'll try to post the other 3 projects to new hosts.
Also, the O.M.M. series has been shifted to tri-weekly.
October 1st, 2007:
Not a lot going on. I've been busy with other things. However, I have been fixing or updating minor aspects of the site here or there like links, history, stat tracking. Oh, and the navigation banner has been letting the text clip into the dividing bar if you used a larger text size, or if you were using a Mac or Linux setup with different fonts. Hopefully, it should display properly now, if it was not before.
September 3rd, 2007:
I've begun doing a bi-weekly front page feature over at Racketboy's. My new O.M.M. series will continuously be listed here.
August 22nd, 2007:
A helpful viewer of the site alerted me to a forum issue. Apparently it hasn't allowed guest posting or registration ever since the server move. This should be fixed now.
July 15th, 2007:
The site was down for a few days, while I changed some settings on my domain name. The domain should now be fully functional with my new host, and from here on I merely have to re-upload all the videos and albums, and we should be totally back up to speed. These will be periodically added with no notice, so if what you want isn't upload yet, just try back later.
Edit: All content should be back online as of now.
July 5th, 2007:
I'm in the process of changing servers. Mightor Industries is now hosting me, just like old times. Random portions of the site may be broken. Also, the direct downloads for the videos and music rips are down, and will be for a while. The forum appears to have survived the transfer, but it could still have some issues lurking. If you find any, feel free to post them. Another thing worth noting is that the domain name is currently using a forward and a mask. This means that the address bar will appear stuck, no matter what page you are on within the site. This should only be temporary.
May 26th, 2007:
Yet another Blizzard game music rip. Here's Diablo 2 + Lord of Destruction.
May 22nd, 2007:
So while the whole planet shook with the announce of StarCraft 2, I remain uninterested due to my complete lack of love for the RTS genre. Regardless, I know good music when I hear it, so I've gone back and ripped the soundtrack from the original StarCraft myself after failing to find an existing rip that meets my standards. Enjoy!
March 15th, 2007:
I finally got around to converting all my featured album rips into single ZIP archives. Now it will be much easier for you guys to download them.
March 14th, 2007:
And another rip. It's Alien Front Online. I've been putting my Dreamcast serial cable to good use lately.
February 11th, 2007:
So, I never seem to work on the site anymore. I feel guilty. Take another soundtrack rip. It's San Francisco Rush 2049 for the Dreamcast. From now on, I am simply hosting the rips in singular ZIP files. It's just too much of a hassle to type up the BBCode for dozens of anti-leeched MP3s. It's much easier this way, and I'll never even hit 1/4th of my bandwidth limit, anyway. I'll probably go back and do the other rips this way, too.
